Martin Luther King Jr. Day is celebrated on Monday January 16th. Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights leader. He was born in Atlanta Georgia January 15th 1929. He became famous in 1963 when he worked with civil rights groups to organize a march on Washington for jobs and freedom.Martin luther king Jr. day is a holiday because it honors the achievements of Martin Luther king.Martin Luther King died on April 4, 1968. He was assassinated while giving a speech.
