                                                                           By Penelope K.

Penelope: How long have you been teaching at Hampton?
Mrs. Murphy: I think this is my sixth year teaching.

Penelope: Have you taught at any other schools?
Mrs. Murphy: Yes, I have been to many different schools in Baltimore County.

Penelope: What do you like and dislike about virtual learning?
Mrs. Murphy: I like seeing and talking to my students and I like being able to wear my slippers during school. I also like that my dog can be with me. I miss being in small groups with students.

Penelope: What do you like doing during your free time?
Mrs. Murphy: I like to practice yoga, read books and spend time walking my dog.

Penelope: What is your favorite book?
Mrs. Murphy: I like the Mrs. Peregrine series.

Penelope: Did you alway want to be a teacher?
Mrs. Murphy: I did. I would pretend that I was a teacher and I would watch my sister practice her handwriting.

Penelope: What grades have you taught?
Mrs. Murphy: I have taught all grades in Hampton so Kindergarten through fifth grade.

Penelope: Which grade did you like the most?
Mrs. Murphy: Third grade because they are not babyish but not too teenagerish.

Penelope: What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a teacher?
Mrs. Murphy: Be creative, patient and willing to share ideas and time.

Penelope: Why do you like being a teacher?
Mrs. Murphy: I love seeing when a student gets it, like a light bulb turns on.

Penelope: What are your favorite games to play?
Mrs. Murphy: Uno and Sorry

Penelope: What is your favorite movie?
Mrs. Murphy: My favorite movie is called Love Actually.

Penelope: I heard you travel a lot. Where is the furthest place you have gone?
Mrs. Murphy: I lived in China for three years and in a beach house in Australia.

Penelope: What was your favorite part about being there?
Mrs. Murphy: My favorite part was being able to see different places other than Maryland.

Penelope: What is your favorite subject to teach?
Mrs. Murphy: Math, because it’s really hands on and kids learn new things during math.
