Interview with Mrs. Allen, special Educator

Interviewer
: How long have you been a teacher?


Mrs.Allen: 33 years

Interviewer: How long have you been at Hampton?

Msr.Allen: I’ve been at Hampton for 13 years.

Interviewer: What grades have you taught?

Mrs.Allen: 2nd-8th grade.

Interviewer: Why did you become a teacher?

Mrs.Allen: Because my younger sister didn’t know how to read and my parents asked me to teach her how to read and I was like hey I’m good at this and then became a teacher.

Interviewer: Did you have a teacher who inspired you?

Mrs.Allen: My high school 10th grade teacher, Mr. Heller inspired me.

Interviewer:Where did you go to college?

Mrs.Allen: I started out in a place called S.U.N.Y at Brockport and then I went to Loyola coll. MD.

Interviewer: Do you have a favorite subject to teach?

Mrs.Allen: Reading, I just enjoy seeing a light bulb go off and the excitement. It’s hard to see the frustration but it’s very rewarding in the end.
