Ms. Patek: I try to get a lot of cleaning done in the summer and some planning for next school year.  I swim a lot in my parents’ pool, and I also read a lot.  I am going to Ocean City with my family.  I am also going to the Finger Lakes in New York with my sister.  We are going to do lots of hiking and hopefully are going to take a hot air balloon ride if the weather cooperates.


Brady: I am going to play a lot of baseball. I might also go to the pool. If I need to take a break I will play fortnite. My biggest baseball trip is going to be in South Carolina. I will play a lot of pickleball at the pool so I can win the pickleball tournament. I will work out so I can get stronger and get better at pitching.

Maya L: I will go to Campus Cabana pool for a lot of my summer, but I also have lots of camps such as: Camp innovation, Drawing camp, sleepaway camp mosh.  I also have a swim team. With the swim team comes swim meets, almost every week. and i will be going to Delaware and staying at a house by the beach. I hope I can get into reading  and work on my story “Roses” a lot more than I do today. 


Teddy L: I’ll go to my pool Campus Cabana and play pickleball baseball. I’ll play Fortnite with my friends and win. I’ll stay home and watch Youtube.


Christian F: For my summer plans I am going to the pool a lot and I am doing a lot of camps throughout the summer. For my vacations I am going to Ocean city, MD and Outer Banks, NC. I am playing a lot of soccer and baseball. I am sleeping  a lot.
 
Calvin Culli: I’m going to go to the pool a lot, more like being half forced to the pool. I am also going to a theme park with my cousins, I’m also going to see my grandparents in Springfield, Illinois, and I’m going to New York to go to the Lego Store, M&M store, and I’m going to try to get on the Today Show with my family.

Sanjay: Rv trips, visiting my aunt in Boston, pool, acting camp, hanging out with friends.


Paige S: I am (hopefully) going to Ocean City, Maryland and I am going to the overnight camp I went to last year, RVR, River Valley Ranch! I’m also going to the pool every day!

Julia: I am going to go to the pool a lot this summer. I will have my birthday party at my grandma’s pool with a bounce house. I will go to Hersheypark and Ocean City. I am gonna stay up all night. I will be playing Fortnite a lot. I am going to have a lemonade stand every once and a while to get some MONEY 🤑🤑🤑.

 Joey P:  I am going on vacation to Outer Banks, North  Carolina  for a week, and I am going to Ocean City, MD.


Gigi: I'm going to go to Hampton pool with my friends, and in August going to an island called Kiawah,and on the way there I will be watching the Taylor Swift "Eras" on the plane ride. I'm also going to Topsail and my family is driving there. I'm also going to go to my uncle’s pool.

I am going to Stowe, Vermont over Winter break. On the 26th, my family and I are going to drive to Massachusetts to see my Grandma for 1 day. The next day, we are going to drive up to Vermont and stay there until the 2nd of January and drive back home.

Tremaine:
What I did for Thanksgiving is I was on YouTube and on Thanksgiving and I went to my uncle’s house for a little bit. 
 
Solomon:
My mom made Thanksgiving dinner. We called all our family members and ate.  That’s it.
 
Bodie:
Something that I did over Thanksgiving break was that I had well Thanksgiving dinner with my family and then I played a lot of Minecraft and made some Youtube videos. I also spent some time with my family and me and my dad were going to make a Whitehouse Lego set but forgot.
I also did some origami because I was bored at some points, and that was what I did on my Thanksgiving break.
 
Audrey
I stayed home for Thanksgiving break because of covid-19 so that we would stay safe. We did not have a turkey, just our favorite sides. All that we did the rest of the week was hanging out together and we watched movies. I had a lot of fun over Thanksgiving break.
 
Ruhaan
During Thanksgiving break my family and I went to my aunt's house to celebrate Thanksgiving and we had a chocolate turkey.  Two days before that I stayed at my aunt’s house and I played with my cousins during those times and we watched tv, played phone and played in the leaves.
 
Sam
I did many things over Thanksgiving Break. Here are a few:
First, my grandfather came down from Vermont to celebrate with us.
Then, I had Thanksgiving dinner (Very good).  After that, I went to the aquarium with my grandfather, my dad, and my brother.  Finally, I just hung out with my grandfather, we had a fire in our fireplace, and we played some board games. 
 
Ms. Patek 
          On Thanksgiving I delivered food to families with my sister and my uncle.  We have been doing this for several years, and we missed doing it last year when COVID prevented it.  We have finally gotten to the point where my uncle will let me use Google Maps on my cell phone instead of using his paper maps or printed directions.
          For dinner, we went to my aunt’s house.  She loves to cook and made lots of different foods for people to enjoy.  I am a really picky eater, so I only have a little bit of turkey and a lot of Kraft mac’n’cheese that I make myself.  I made three boxes this year so that I would have plenty!  After dinner, I went to my parents’ house, and we watched a new movie together.
          Over the weekend, my sister, my mom, and I decorated my parents’ house for Christmas.  We have done this every year since I was little, and even though my sister and I don’t live at home anymore, we always go over to help my mom decorate.  It’s one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving break.

]]><![CDATA[Geography Bee]]>Fri, 31 Jan 2020 04:41:07 GMThttp://www.thehamptonherald.com/staff-central/geography-beeHampton will be hosting the National Geography Bee tomorrow.   Two students from each fourth & fifth grade homeroom will complete.  In the spirit of the Geography Bee, the Hampton Herald staff decided to share some of their favorite places they have visited as well as places that they hope to visit one day.

I have been to Springfield, Illinois.  
Every summer my family and I visit Springfield, Illinois to see my family and Illinois's fun and historical sites. Illinois is in the Midwest of the USA. It lies north of Kentucky, west of Indiana, and east of Iowa and Minnesota. There is a lot of rich history sites like Abraham Lincoln’s home, the Ilinois old and new state house, and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential museum.  
One of my favorite places to go in Springfield is the Presidential Museum. It has been open since 2005. In the Abraham Lincoln Presidential museum there are life size wax figures and buildings that you can walk through and experience Lincoln’s life. Also, for all your candy cravers there is an amazing candy shop called Pease's. There are many different chocolates they make right in front you. And on Fridays, they have these crazy milkshakes with everything you could ever imagine in and on it.  
Springfield, Illinois is an amazing place to visit for education and fun!

My family and I wanted to do something big this summer, so we went on our first ever road trip as a family. The state Missouri is in the central United States. My family and I were going on and road trip and took a stop in St. Louis, Missouri. We stayed the night in a hotel, and the next day took a trip around the area. My family and I went the Gateway Arch, and we went up the arch in a what they called “pods”. Once it stops at the top you can see out a long window. After, my family and go down back in a “pod”. Finally, we continued our road trip journey. 
The Gateway Arch is famous for how big and tall it is. But do you know how cool it really is? You get to travel up in the Arch and look over the whole city. You travel in a small tight compartment which they called a pod. A pod has 5-6 seats and have separate pods. You get out of the pod once you get to the top. The top of the Arch has two long windows on either side. Then once you finish looking out the window you go down in a pod. When you come down there is a museum for your entertainment.  ​
